Well, Thanksgiving went well. We had a good time on Thursday. Sandy and I (Will) put up Christmas lights on my parents' home. They live on a street called Candy Cane Lane (it's only called that from Thanksgiving to New Years) because of the tradition of putting up wooden candy canes along the sidewalks. Bonnie, Nathan and Tanner were there, and for Thanksgiving dinner a friend of ours from school came, which was fun. Ping-pong didn't go quite as good as I would have liked, as I was a bit humbled by my brother in law, Nathan. Until next time.
Back in Rexburg life has continued as normal. I have had enough of this cold weather with no snow. I don't mind the cold if there is snow, but if it's just going to be cold, well, I don't like that too much. The problem is Sandy doesn't like the snow, and apparently Sandy has a better relationship with mother nature than I do, so once I can convince her of how wonderful snow is, then maybe we'll see some white stuff.
Wednesday life threw a bit of a curveball at us. As I wrote in the last post, Sandy had gotten her teaching placement with a certain teacher in Rigby. She tried to contact him, unsuccessfully, and left a message. Wednesday evening she got a call from him, and was informed that there had been some sort of mix-up and that a student from ISU had ended up getting placed with him. In other words, Sandy had nowhere to student teach. We were both really dismayed, as we had been basically planning our lives since we were married around her doing her student teaching after Christmas, including selling our apartment contract here and buying one in Rigby. We weren't sure what was going to happen. Sandy emailed the person in charge of student teaching placement, and they were able to resolve it the next day, and Sandy is now with two different teachers, at the same high school, and will be teaching Economics (which she's a bit stressed about as it isn't her forte) Sociology and History. As I write this, it seems like the whole situation wasn't a big deal, but from the time Sandy was informed that her placement had fallen through until it was resolved, it was really hard. However, I know that the Lord knows what He is doing, and that whatever happens, if we're following Him, it will work out for the best.
Yesterday Sandy had the opportunity to take wedding pictures for a friend of hers. She's not getting married until next week, but wanted to get some pictures done today, as it is a big chilly outside and a bit easier to break it up into a few different photo taking times. It was a lot of fun, and the photo of the sunset came from when we were finishing. It's amazing how a sky can look so warm in a place so cold.
